Been planning a trip back to the Northern Middlegrounds for over a month. Last trip was 2 years ago today and suffice it to say we blindly stumbled upon an Jurassic Park stop where the fish were large and in charge. pulled up the old Windfinder App just to see how we were looking, and got my bubble busted big time. Sure hope this doesnt come true! anybody know whats going on? is there a Huricane out there or what? smh

Nice catch skyjay. The date seems funny. There is nothing out there now. Hoping it stays that way.

That's just a clever tactic they use....what it means is, we don't want any fish taken home, bastids

How many hrs for a trip like that?

Post by SkyJay on Jun 9, 2019 21:32:23 GMT -5
this particular trip we left the dock at daylight and got back at daylight. so 24 hours but we did alot of recon, baitstops, and took a nap. trip can be done reasonably in 14-18 hours if the weather is right and still get plenty of fishin.

i see so many guys sink all their money into fancy tackle, gear, expensive pretty boat wraps electronics, ect but come up short on thier safety gear. An oldtimer told me once hopefully you'll never have to use your liferaft... but if you do I gaurantee you'll buy another one.

Sailflow app works pretty nice too. The map on the app has different stations you can click to get the current wind, forecasted winds, tides and weather..

I did went on yesterday. 4 out of 6 ARS.
What can you do with 1 engine boat, with no anchor or fish finder. I think we did pretty well with this condition. LOL
A few lane and some beeliner. Lots of under size red grouper. Lots of under size ARS as well. We made it to the edge of where we would find ARS so yeah.
