Jim, Jan's Netcraft carries something called Crimped Nylon. It's used for making jigs and comes in White, Blue,Lime,Pink,Red and Yellow. One pack is enough for hundreds of jigs and cost $2.79 You could shop online. Here's the site www.jannsnetcraft.com

JM,there is a material that I use mostly over my bucktail to give it a sparkle effect but it can be used alone. It's called Mylar and looks like a piece of rope or string. You cut it to te desired length and tie it below the eye of the hook, then with a needle or pick, you fray the end. It is veryeffective and inexpensive. Most flyfising stores will carry it. Also they will give you tips and usually love to show you fly tieing tips.

Jmfishin, the material I told you about, looks like fiberoptic cable. Give me a name and address and I'll mail you a few pieces.
