I was thinking about targeting them saturday. What do I need for a rod, terminal tackle, bait, tide? I have heard people chumming them. With what? Thanks Bill

Bill, last year i used alot of greenbacks cut up for chum and we had the bonito schooling on top so chumming is always a good way to get them on a feeding frenzy.

hey Bill, I use 20lb. mono main line w/ 20lb florocarbon leader, about 3ft long. Attach leader directly to main line w/out any terminal tackle. I use a 7ft Penn Slammer w/ a 6500 Baitrunner. This time of year, I have only seen them on the incoming tide. As far as bait goes, use 2-3" greenies hooked through the nostrils so they stay lively. You chum with dead greenies, 6-10 every couple of minutes. Hope this helps. Just remember to hold on and have a blast. Oh, set your drag fairly loose when they first hit or all you're going to hear is pop. Try to get their head out of the water as soon as possible.

Oh, I forgot, I also use a 2/0 Gamakatsu circle hook. make sure they are heavy wire or they will straighten your hook fairly easily.
