Got to the Alley around 4:45 (way earlier than usual) to get the outgoing. Bait was tough but found it. Just about sunrise the bite turned on. Mangos were on the chew. Got 8 keepers but only 3 over 12" which went in the box. Floating lures out for groupers in between (only 2 shorts). For some reason a Bonehead decides to spool my lure on the drift. Never got him turned... While reeling in a mango, my other rod bends in half.......another Bonehead hook up. Tangled up about 8 other fellow fishermen because this one decided to tour the pier. Broke off on a piling right under me after about 5 minutes. These guys are much bigger this year. Bite slowed down around 9 or so. Steve (goin deep) made a guest appearance. We tried to get a Bonehead frenzy going but no luck (looks like we need the Guru present). LookN4Tuna checked in to say hello. Nice to meet ya. Left about 3:30 with a nice windburn. Fish on.

Hey Rich. Good to here you made it out there. Can't beat them boneheads. I don't know if they are bigger, but they have some stonger shoulders on em. They pretty much wore me out yesterday. I woke up sore as sh-- this morning. I'll take the bones over Grouper any day. I'll be out there Sunday in the a.m. Gotta leave around 11.Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house we go. It was Grandma's 92nd birthday. See ya out there. By the way, who is the Guru?

Yup once I got there the bite was off and stayed that way.
It was great bein back out there though and the weather was perfect one the wind slowed down in the afternoon. Fished with fishonandoff most of the day and met Lookin4Tuna and a couple others from the forum that haven't posted yet.
Tried freelining pins, grunts, blue runners, threads...tried bottom fishin, balloon rig, whole bait, live bait, dead bait, cut bait....no luck!
Goin back out Sunday to try to get back in the groove.

Sorry guys for the delay on the posting. Have family in town and the wife has the schedule all booked up. Anyway, we got to the SSP around 7am and starting fishing wih some frozen greenbacks that I had from Tues morn. It didn't take us long to drum up some live ones though. The bait was thick just like the Tues morning. Changed out the frozen for live and threw them out gulf side on a slider rig with 3oz egg. Changed out bait often to keep them lively but nothing bit.... Period. Didn't even get one strike. We we around marker 114 and by looking at the ariel photos looks like the artificial reef is a little further out then where we were on tues. Wind was blowing brisk so when I tried to freeline, the bait just floated on top the water. So, It was a great day for bait: greenbacks, whitebait, pinfish and lots of bluerunners. Even caught a few small lane snappers and a lookdown jack on the sabiki. But not the best results for taking an out of towner fishing. Nothing to take home; everyday can't be a catching day, but it was a beautiful fishing day. On the way out, went out to the end and met Rich and Steve. Great to meet you guys and I really would have loved to stayed and shoot the breeze for awhile, but I had a car full of kids that were tired and just looking forward to the hour and a half trip home. But It was great meet you. Went out to Honeymoon Island today with the family for a beach trip. Was going to try and sneak a rod along, but the boss put a stop to that. Oh well.... can't blame a guy for trying!!
