Its gone fellas.. I am a bit bummed. I basically have fished there all my life and this is the second Gandy Bridge I have seen be closed. Its really sad. I get the safety aspect. I have seen some of the badspots on the bridge. It was only a matter of time. They have to build a new span to replace the oldest one in operation here very soon. More than likely, we will be out of a fishing pier there until they convert the oldest of the 2 spans to a pier / jogging trail.
It still stinks. I hope there is something that can be done in the interim until that happens. There is alot of good fishing under that bridge. For me there are alot of good family memories too.

I feel bad, that I never fished there. I heard alot of great stories come from guys that have fished there quite awhile. That being said, I have one question? Why is it when they decide to close the Gandy, the inspection report is made available as a link on the Bay News 9 story line? Yet finding out anything about the Skyway is near impossible?

Well hard to question a report as detailed as that. I am still dissapointed though. I only fished the gandy a cpl of times and seen some huge fish come out of the water there. Its got to make you wonder why the report for the skyway was not released. I thinking that it wasent nearly as bad but possibly bad enough to have concerne but instead of trying to have some sort of vehicular and or pedestrian traffic controls they deceided to do the easy thing and just close it off saying its not safe at all and to expensive to fix. What can ya do. Mabey somwhow force the state to produce the report and have an independenr agency look at it. Goog luck there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems all is not lost here. A little birdie, just told me the local businesses that pert much depend on the Catwalk traffic to survive, are bitchin so loud, the County, ain't really gonna have much choice other than to at least spend the dough to reopen the Catwalks to fishin. If not, they sure pissed alot of money away buildin the fancy new boardwalks. Ya RECKON??? Seems to me the Right Hand Don't know what the LEFT hand is doin... Seems the Engineer's inspection, would have preceded the gazillions of boards and Dollars they seemingly wasted, to "Upgrade the catwalks", in the "interest", of "Public Safety", and "Enjoyment" Kiss My Reindeer Nuts. A Side Note To This Frambazzle... Interestingly Enough, the same Jizzballs that conducted the so called "Study", or "Safety Inspection", If you will, on the Gandy, was the incompetent idiots who condemned the SkyWay Piers... Palms Are Bein Greased My Friends!!! Palms Are Bein Greased!!! Our only hope, is that when Brother Barrack, institutes his "miracle" economic, infrastructure, rescue plan, is that theres enough dough left on the Visa Card, to save the damn fishin piers... But I reckon Keeper Groupers might start Swimmin Outta Everybody's butts first!!! ;D Like I Said... Kiss My Reindeer Nutts! That Is All!
