got there at 6 am. just as we pull in to park, the lady next to us pulls in a 23" gag. looks like it will be a good day. no keepers for us today but we were visited by an old friend. spanish mackeral showed up for a short time. jeremy's biggest spanish mackeral so far. 25 1/2 inches and about 4 or 5 pounds. there is a story to go with this one but i'll let jeremy tell it. we also had a visit by bonito today. surprise surprise. this one was caught by the lady next to us. i think her name is trisha (future forum member). it was her first bonito. we saw another guy limit out on mangos. most were 14 to 16 inches.

Here is my story. Im using a spoon, reeling in at a mediam speed and get about 10 feet from the pier. Then WAM. Fish on. It didnt take long to get him in though. I have his head above water and didnt think I could hike him over the rail because of the light line I was using. My dad trys and it get over the rail and it get 1/2 way over the rail and falls back down. I as my stupid self runs over to grab the line as my dad lets the line loose. The rod bounces off my sholder and out of his hands into the water. . We try throwing the castnet to catch the to catch the rod. Doesnt work. Then attach the rope of the bridge gaff to the castnet rope. We are throwing the bridge gaff for about 10 minites and are about to give up when my dad hooks something. We think its a rock but it is moving. Next thing we know the rod tip sticks out of the water. . My dad starts pulling faster and we see something big and shiney next to it and realize it is my mack. . We get it over the rail and on ice. This is a picture of my jaw then.

Nice fish Jeremy, may have to make my way to the Alley. Been so crowded down there lately, just can't bring myself to fishing elbow to elbow. Been catching some keepers further back, hard to leave my spots right now.
