I have to go with snook for best catch and grouper edging out snook by a nose for dinner or lunch, or maybe even grouper on toast for the early bird.

Pompano is my favorite fish to eat. Cook them whole. Rub it with olive oil and favorite seasonings, some fresh lemon juice, and grill on cedar plank. 9-10 minutes on each side.
Doesn't get much better.....

favorite fish to eat would be a toss up between sheepshead and snapper. favorite to catch would be tarpon for sure. they say if it smells like fish it's a delicious dish.

You know right off the bat I was thinking like Blackened tuna, or swordfish, but then.... there it was!!!!!!!!!!! I gotta say my personal favorite all time meal EVER!! was Yellowtail Snapper we caught out of Islamarada maby like 30 yrs ago. To this day nothing has yet to compare to that meal, that night, and me actually saying this is the best fish I have ever eaten period!!!! But the real answer to what is the best fish you have ever eaten? ? The one in front of me right now!!!!! As far as the funnest catch? Tough one cause I fresh water fish a lot up North also when I am on the road and small mouth bass as far as a fight goes, or even skamanian trout in the St. Joe river in mich. they are incredible!!!!!! tough fight!!!!!! Salt water I like the hunt for Snook and the catch is just a reward and fun as all get out. Great warriors!!!!!!!! Tough call!!!!!! But I guess again, the fish I like to catch the best is the one on my line right now!!!!!! Tight Lines Y'all

lol i'm sure he was joking but i've heard of little tuney and don't know or think its the same as bonita but hear they are good eats!
also the meat in tuna is so different from pompano, snook, and flounder so i would say its like a steak meat. but my favorite is MUTTON Snapper! Snook, chilean seabass, flounder, and pomps 2nd, and 3rd being black drum, sheepies, tuna, and grouper.

To eat its a 3 way tie between sheeps, mangos, and groupers. To catch has to be tarpon definetly. . 2nd to catch is bonito but they arent here this year.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd to eat is Snook, Sheeps, and Grouper. But whatever is in the freezer is ok by me and not necessarily in that order. By far the favorite catch is a Tarpon hook up. Just ain't nothing like it.

SkyWay Grouper Hands Down!
Caught Freeline style, more fun than a man oughtta be allowed to have. Fried/Grilled fresh, Captain's favorite food.
(I think I read the question right)

Although a good ole Skyway Grouper is real hard to beat, I am real partial to the Amberjack. AJ's on the grill are sure tasty when marinated a short time in some Italian Dressing and pound for pound straight down they pull like a Mack Truck. I can't do much Shark fishing due to my lousy back, but they are one hell of a fight and a nice Black Tip makes some good eating also. Man this is a hard question cause all the fish ya'll mentioned are great eating too.

AJ on the grill seasoned w/Old Bay dry seasoning and a little chili powder black pepper all mixed in with melted butter, real butter and basted while grilling. Make your tongue slap your brains out. And several years ago I ate some fresh caught Stripers up at Cape Cod lemon butter and onion wrapped in foil on the grill not bad atall. Later, Painter

Not sure how many folks on the forum are originally from the north or the south, but if you can get some fresh rainbow trout from a local seafood place (sometimes Cox seafood on Dale Mabry has them). Cook them whole, with the aluminum foil wrap, butter, lemon slices, maybe a little fresh dill, spices....delicious.
Hope somebody decides to try this one. You'll be glad you did.

I think I misunderstood the poll... I thought the question was... Catch, and eat??? The fish that's on my plate werks 4 me! Them Tunas are pertty nifty to! Like Steel said, Scamps n Hogs... Oh shoot, We Fergot the KEY WEST GRUNT! Ole Florida cracker'll tell ya there's only 1 thing better than a Speckled Perch... A filleted Snuke! It's ALL good! What time is dinner? (And Popo's right... Them sweetwater Rainbows are hard to beat to) Heck I even like SUSHI! LMFAO

Like Jay said.."the fish that's on my plate" is what is my current favorite. I am just happy to make a catch and put something fresh on the table. I love grouper but since it is a rare feat for me I love me some red fish, flounder, sheepies, and a nice mess of grunts with some ice cold beers makes me a happy camper anytime! Might be going after some silver trout and some whiting this weekend. Yummy!
