Thanks guys for all yer kind comments... Really was a killer fun day! Thanks John fer postin the pic, and to Capt. Jack, any time my friend. Hell we're practically neighbors anywho!
Nice Fish Tyler glad to hear your vacation was a blast.
Had to drop my Brother-In-Law off at TIA early that morning, so as a last second thing I threw a pole in the truck, and thought I'd give CCC a try, as I ain't fished there since all the construction began.
When I got there, most of the my favorite spots were torn to hell still, so I I hurriedly got a bucket of Crabs, and Oysters, with a few Blood Worms, Pistol Shrimp , and Green Mussels to boot, and hauled ass to the SkyWay.
It was hit and miss early, at the first few spots I tried.
I hit the little bridge North, and first, and right off the bat got what turned out to be the biggest fish of the day.
After a couple shorts, and an Over Slot RedFish, things really quieted down, and I lost patience. I figured If I just kept lookin I'd find em. Man did that strategy ever pay off.
Next stop NSP. Pretty much a wasted stop. Got one little Rooster. (Did see a few nice fish up by the Toll Booth, but couldn't get em to chew)
By now it was gettin about 11 am, so I figured I best get busy, as my orders were to be home by 3 for dinner. (Dang... I thought I had that fishin tackle covered up good enough where she couldn't see it! LOL)
Loaded up my 1 ROD, and my 1 BUCKET
, and headed South.
To my favorite place in the whole wide World...
Checked out a couple known locations/hidey-holes the prisoners like to hang out and was about to lose confidence/hope, when I had a flashback.
Back in October, during the Brief KingFish run we had, I remembered seeing some fish at the corner, so I (SLOWLY), headed for the end.
After what seemed like FOREVER, I finally got parked and YES, there weren't nobody in "the Corner"!
Quickly, I smashed me up a little chum, and went to work.
Although there weren't any fish up feeding on the pilings, I had a good feeling about the spot.
Baited up with a nice big Oyster Crab, dropped in, and promptly donated my first bait in, to the cause. (Along with the subsequent 3 or 4 that followed LOL)
A swing and a miss, strike 2, 3, 4 , and 5, and the I finally got over my jitters, settled downed, and got "tuned" in.
By now it's like 12:30-1:00, and I'm solidly headed for the Turkey Day DogHouse! LOL
Anyways I got a Rhythm going and landed 5, or 6 nice fat keepers, and then the shorts moved in.
After that it was 1 for me 3 for you for about an hour, and the tide started to slow.
Eventually the bite died down enough to take time for refreshments
, and fish icing duties.
As I Iced them down, I got a chill, not from the Ice, but from Days on the "Way", gone by.
Some good, some not so good, but most... Simply the best days of my life. Not sure what I'll do with myself, If I'm still around when they tear that old bridge down.
Anyways, the count was by now at 13, and knowing I had a housefull of greedy relatives waiting, I was determined to "limit"
out.
Went back to fishin, but got nada in 45 minutes or so, so I packed up and moved on in search of greener pastures.
Hit several stops, including the Restrooms, baitshop area, and Toll booth along the way. All to no avail.
Hit the little HumpBridge for 1 last stop, and Low-And-Behold,
there all along the North rocks was another BIG school of fatties grazing.
I grabbed my stuff and slipped down under for a 9th. inning at bat.
This time the Fish Gods rewarded me with a few more nice fish.
(Note: I had to remove all terminal tackle, and freeline with just a small splitshot to get them grazers in the shallows to bite)
After a brief glance at my watch that dreaded feeling I've gotten since I was a kid kicked in, and I knew it was time to call it a day. But what a day it was.
Don't reckon I'll forget that one for a while. My only regret was I didn't have somebody along to enjoy it with me.
Seems that's always the way don't it?
If'n I was to take somebody back, and try to re-create it, proly wouldn't get a bite.
Not complainin mind ya. Just sayin. Ya know?
Anyways, pulled in the driveway at 3:27 just, as you know who was startin to pat her foot. (Talk about the skin of yer teeth)
Sat down to a nice Turkey, and dressing dinner at 3:45, reeking, of Crab poo, and Sheephead Slime.
It Just Don't Get No Better Than That!
Hope everyone else had a great day to, and a Safe and Happy Holidays to all.
Hope y'all have as good a time readin this fishin story, as I did tellin it!
Peace, and Love, And Good Will Toward Men (you to Girls)

PS 20# braid, 20#pink Ande leader about 12-14 inches will do.
#1 Eagle Claw Bronzed Bait Holder Beak hooks.
Small Crabs, Oysters' Barnacles, BloodWorms, and green Mussels.
Get a couple 5 gal buckets of oysters, barnacles etc., and crush for chum. It WORKS!
