Planning on going out around 4pm and staying until whenever. Hoping to fish the NSP, but if it's too crowded, will slide down to the SSP. Hoping to meet some of you, haven't met anyone yet. Will be in grey Jeep Cherokee with a large pier rat decal on side window and a small one on the rear window. Lookn4Grouper hopefully.

When are you going out on Tues? Morning/evening, NSP/SSP? I think I might take the family out Tues morn and see if the young ones can bring something in. I'm smiling ;D ;D that will make three times to the pier in three weeks!! Great excuse to get rid of those extra vacation days before the end of the year!!

Ill probably hit the SSP in the morning around 8am. Tides don't look too great but ill take my chances. Ill most likely stay till the sun goes down, maybe later if there's action.

Great maybe we'll see you. I plan on getting there before sunrise. Do you know of they fixed the bathrooms on the SSP? Taking the whole family, I'd rather have bathrooms then jiify jons. The wife is pretty set against the portable ones. So I might be on the NSP if they haven't fixed that problem.

Havent heard about the bathrooms...I never fish the NSP so Ill be on the SSP. Might try the flats near the hump bridge for a few, Ive never tried there before. Once on the pier Ill either be somewhere between the last restrooms and the end, or near the baitshop somewhere. Cant wait to try braided line for the first time. Look for a dirty black 2 door Grand Prix. Thatll be me. Tight lines

Going to the SSP Friday (today) should be there around noon if my luck holds out. Look for a Maroon and Gold F-150 with Pier Rat Decal on rear window. I could be anywhere, I move around a lot. With these tides, or should I say lack thereof, we will need all th luck we can muster. Stop by with your lucky charms and we'll put some voodoo on there arses.

Sorry Fillet I leave for work at 4:30am and usually don't get to check the boards at work. So I didn't know you were going to be down there. I got to the NSP around 4:00pm and got a spot just past the bathrooms at marker 33. Baitfish were really sparse, except for some little schools of small fry. Ended up catching about 40 greenbacks in about as many casts. Anyway, didn't catch a thing for the first 2 hours (pinfish on the sabiki not counting) then as the sun was going down we caught a couple sand perch, then the sailcats came by. When the sun was below the horizon we cut up some frozen mullet into huge chunks and tossed that out. Reeled in 5 blacktips largest was 38". Pulled in a nice bonnethead about the same. Hooked a few lane snappers on the sabiki later in the night and the surprise of the night was a 10" gator trout on the sabiki. Everything went back in the drink, nothing to take home. I was really hoping for some grouper, but none to speak of.
All in all the pier wasn't very crowded, when I left (about 11:00pm) I drove about to the end and it was quite a bit more crowded there then it was down where we were fishing. But I didn't see anyone with anything to speak of.
If I would have known y'all were on the south side, I would have come down. I'm looking forward to Tues morning. I really enjoy mornings more. Seems like the baitfish are better and there's nothing like a grouper looking for breakfast.

Look'n, nice report. Have you ever ate blacktip shark? You tossed back some fine meals.
As long as you bleed and gut em immediately, and get em on plenty of ice, you cant go wrong.
What kind of setup were you using?

Actually, I was using a grouper rig that I bought @ The Tackle Outlet in Port Richey. It is an 8/0 or 9/0 circle hook with a 4 or 5 oz egg sinker on it. That on my Shimano Bait Runner 4500 w/ 25# Berkley Big Game mono spooled on it. I've never ate shark, and have no idea what do with them (skin it, fillet it, ect..). Wasn't sure what size made good eating. I'll have to keep that in mind for the next time. Thanks.

If youre gonna keep and eat a shark, they MUST be bled (and preferably gutted) right after theyre caught, then put on ice. Otherwise the meat will have an ammonia smell and taste. Theyre easy to clean. To bleed them out quick, I cut off the head right after catching it, and also gut it right there, then get it on ice. When I get home, I just lay it out on the cutting table, and cut into steaks, leaving the skin on. Theres no bones, just a cartilage thingy running down the middle. I cut steaks to desired thickness, then skin the steaks (being sure to remove any reddish colored meat) and grill em with olive oil, lemon, garlic, and salt and pepper. Heres some info posted in a previous thread: skywaypiers.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=425&page=1#4073
