Maybe later....he's still cleaning all those fish he caught Sorry a bit late. Working in the bahamas and the service is crap. Arrived at 3am and could easily get that lonely corner. After 15 minutes since sunrise I hooked up with my first Mac. About every 18 minutes I hooked up to a Mac. Around 9 I had 10 and they decided to move to the other side. I had to leave but I left with 10 macs total. Wasn't gonna go but I seen that it was windy and that usually means the Mac bite should be good. Glad I went before I left. Fish on brothers 👍

We're thinking about going late Friday afternoon & evening. Looks like an incoming tide the whole time. Not sure that's the best conditions.

No luck today (May 3) at the end of SSP. Came around 6 AM, lots of bait, but not much activity. Had two strikes. Incoming tide. Was using live greenbacks.
Is there a preference on tides for macs? I was so frustrated today that at the prime location, at prime time there were no strikes.
Also, when using greenbacks, I had always an issue with them staying alive. After few minutes from the cast, I reel back and always see that the bait doesn't have eyes anymore. Who eats them? The bait does not hit the ground.

Bait doesn't need to be alive, we've caught lots on cut threadfins and cut sardines but live sardines will get you bigger macks. It's much easier to use spoons and forget the bait. Staying in the same spot is not advisable either...when the bite is weak it's time to move around the pier

I thought to be early (with a sunrise) will be better, but it wasn't a case.

Tides matter, but maybe not the way you look at them. I mostly fish early morning, but if sunrise is 7am and the next tide change is 7:30am I won't go out there. If the next tide change is 10am then I will go. That's more than enough time to slay them or determine it's not gonna happen. Staying all day is not my game

Feel your pain sir, If it's not home repairs or auto repairs, grocery's are going up all the time. Everyone wants a little bit more these days. Read recently that California is increasing their minimum wage to $20 dollars a hour and that passes down to everyone else. More kiosks popping up in all the fast food joints all over replacing workers. Hour drive to fish the SSP for a few fish getting harder to justify.

True that flatsrunner, it's just a money grab now. Auto repair shops will rob you blind, charge for work they don't do, use cheap parts and tell you it's original equipment, tack on bs fees you never heard of......bastids!

And to top it off. You gotta pay 8 dollars to fish the skyway at minimum.
The only state park that wont accept a yearly pass just because they know people will pay it.
I only visit the skyway when I want my gag grouper fix now in days during season. Its 20+ bucks to fish it everytime once you tally everything... for someone who tries to fish 5-7 a week atleast 1-2 houra a day. Not worth it

One day out there I watched a small box truck pull up close to me and park. Driver gets out, opens the roll up door and 6 of my friends from south of the border pile out, rods in hand.......slick. I gave them all a cold Modelo
