The skyway misfits group said they slay the Mac’s today off greenbacks. A friend said there was nothing eating off bait Monday and so I don’t know what change because tide conditions still looks the same. Maybe the wind brought them in???

They chum them in with laundry baskets full of greenbacks. I’ve watched them first hand produce hauls like that on days when no one else is catching anything

Well, instead of an all day incoming tide, according to the tide charts, turns out to be a 3 day tide with a midday outgoing tide that could possibly brought all the Mac’s, bonitas, kings and gags eating like a frenzy these past 3 days.

Maybe you are using the wrong tide chart site? If you look at NOOA Tides for Mullet Key, you will see that the outgoing tide was predicted for Thursday and Friday. See below (they don't copy right): Day of the Week Time (LST/LDT) Predicted (ft) High/Low 2024/04/17 Wed 03:13 AM 0.13 L 2024/04/17 Wed 8:32 PM 1.76 H 2024/04/18 Thu 03:57 AM 0.20 L 2024/04/18 Thu 12:01 PM 1.35 H 2024/04/18 Thu 3:45 PM 1.15 L 2024/04/18 Thu 9:44 PM 1.73 H 2024/04/19 Fri 04:31 AM 0.29 L 2024/04/19 Fri 11:24 AM 1.43 H 2024/04/19 Fri 4:33 PM 0.89 L 2024/04/19 Fri 10:42 PM 1.69 H 2024/04/20 Sat 04:59 AM 0.40 L 2024/04/20 Sat 11:26 AM 1.57 H 2024/04/20 Sat 5:13 PM 0.64 L 2024/04/20 Sat 11:31 PM 1.65 H

It's laughable that someone fishing at the end of the pier can say nobody else on the pier is catching any fish

When you stay there for 24hrs thru 4 tide changes why would you bother looking at a tide table?

When you stay there for 24hrs thru 4 tide changes why would you bother looking at a tide table? I think it helps because I can take a break for lunch on incoming midday tide or switch to a different spot and target a different fish. No one is fishing for 24 hours but knowing when the tide moves gives us a better time management.

Haven't seen it but imagine they were catching the bait by net or sabiki and putting it in a basket. Saw two guys last year at the end of the NSP using sabikis and catching what appeared to be over a hundred greenbacks and throwing them into a basket. Asked about it and they said they were going to use them for chum. I asked if they were going offshore with all that bait and they said they were going to cut them in half and use them for chum to catch snappers off the pier. They weren't putting them in water with air to keep them alive. They had a pile of them. Appeared that they had done it before and knew what to do.

That's what I would say about someone filling a laundry basket with greenbacks just to catch some macs. My nephews wife fished for 5 hours a week ago and all she caught was a 35 inch snook. I fished for 6 hours a few days ago and all I caught was a 5 foot shark. It's called whatever turns your crank.

I realized after my last post that all this was beside the point. jk2 was questioning about the laundry baskets like maybe somehow they were using them to catch the bait or something. Just trying to fill him in.

Another way to put it is that not fishing for 5 or 6 hours turns your crank.

I'm trying to imagine how it works. Literally exactly how it sounds, they take large stand up laundry baskets with small holes and fill them with castnetted greenbacks which obviously die, it sounds like overkill but on a smaller scale is probably a good way to fill the time while waiting for peak tides, and then maximize results during those peak tides. Also don’t forget the misfits aren’t one person and they aren’t leaving with 5 snapper. They’re leaving with 5 limits of snapper, 5 limits of macks, and probably a king or two in the mix 😂
