I don't hear much about Cobia being targeted, but I was wondering if people catch them on Skyway, and when they're usually seen.

Over the last 2 years I’ve seen 2 cobia landed off the ssp, barely keeper size. One at the beginning of the pier and one in the middle.
But I did see a very large one in the 40+lb range follow in a gentleman’s nurse shark that he was hooked up too. It stayed with that nurse shark for atleast 10 minutes, I dropped a live pinfish infront of its face which it ate and spit and then we spent the rest of the time throwing everything we could at it while we took turns holding the nurse shark in place. Eventually we gave up but I’ve caught quite a few nurse sharks out there myself and often wonder if there’s more opportunity for cobia than we realize.

As per any situation the picture doesn’t give the fish justice but I have a video in my phone that shows it better in comparison to the 6+ foot nurse shark it followed in. This was in September of last year. I’ve caught a few nice cobia from shore in the local area one 48in and the other 54 and they both seemed tiny compared to the one following this shark hahaha
