Got there at 8 to secure spot. People were already camping and I managed to secure 1. Set up my stuff and went to sleep in my car. Woke up at 5 to people letting out line I guess for sharks or gags. The drag was loud every time they pulled and couldn't sleep so I set up my rigs.
7:30 the party started. Threw the trusty spoon and Hooked 5 and activity died around 8 or so I thought. Switched to live bait and immediately got hooked. Caught 2 before I kept getting cut off. Didn't have any higher mono or flouro to switch to (was using 20lb). Got hooked and when I reeled in Got immediately cut off losing mack and hook. Got tired of losing potential large macs. Switched back to spoon and used a constant retrieval method and stayed in the middle of the water column and caught my remaining 8 in 15 minutes. People saw those and immediately copied but with somewhat different results. Macs were varying from 15" to 24". White ,blue and yellow are the spoons to be running. Morning seems good for those bigger macs Left at 12 Fish on đź‘Ť

Wished I could fish on weekends but the crowd is to much for me. Even sometime during the week is crowded. Thanks for the report.
When you meant constant retrieval method, are you saying you’re not stopping and letting your weight drop? Or are you saying you’re using your retrieval method systematically the same technique?

Stopping your retrieval and letting your spoon drop will get you lots of cutoffs and lose you lots of spoons. Steady retrieve is a better method...I mostly use a medium retrieve but sometimes macks like it slow and sometimes they like it fast, you have to adjust

I owe you a cold one.

Wow, that's incredible. I suppose you were flipping it out there with a cane pole.

It's getting a little deep now. Might have to break out some hip boots.
