I tried slinging last fall for about an hour. Decent sized sinker and long leader. Felt like I was going to throw my back out before too long. The long leader was the killer making casting very uncomfortable. You can have it. I was born to chunk. Size matters. I have never eaten Mackeral, but saw where one guy posted that he would rather eat a seagull. Bound to be quite a bit more meat on a Pelican. If only the tags weren't so expensive. A few weeks back I saw this fisherman chunk out about a 16 inch sheepshead. He got hit and the thing had got cut off clean right behind the gills. I wondered if it was legal to use sheepshead for bait? Keep on slinging!

Since I started this thread I thought I would give an update. I talked to my Vets and Srs about getting a Bird Certificate and they said that since the thing is so easy to get, they would all try and be "legal" by the next time we go out. And will be bringing their Sabiki rigs with them!!

^^^ who in the hell are you to even ask. You hold yourself in really high esteem. Dude was saying he could maybe use paperwork so that he would be the only one needing the stupid bird paper work if he was with the VA or something. Think you read it all wrong. Also I don't live in FL but go there a time or two a year usually to fish. I've seem bird hookups at other places, like the pier at Fort De Soto and none at the Skyway. Granted I'm sure it happens but the real problem is that karen birdperson. Why ain't she protesting these other piers?

I fished NSP on my first trip to Skyway not quite a year ago. While there I see some lady with a FOP shirt on getting all riled up because someone supposedly hooked a bird. Her and some dude in a golf cart took off towards the end of the pier to save the day I guess. I don't know if her name was Karen or not but heard her saying" here's another one." Not intentional. Accidents happen. Haven't seen her since. Now that we all know what to do with an accidental bird hookup she can stay home. Hopefully we don't see shirts that say FOD.
