Took tears143 advice and went again to the end of the pier. Same action as the previous day. However, several dolphins showed up at 7am and scared the macs away for an hour. Free line greenbacks and got 9. Caught nothing for the next 2 hours using bait while going up and down the pier looking for them. Should have stayed put and wait for them to return. I’m just too lazy and terrible at spoooning but I need to commit on getting better at it. Macs came back at 8am and average guys straw/spoon cork bopper setup hookup an average of 6 each till 9am. Saw 2 Bonitas landed. Left at 9am and the action look like it slowed down but I’m sure they are still there, here and there. Pic to follow.

Odd....I'm to lazy to catch bait, slinging my spoon is much less work, and I can cover more water. Hope I never hook another albacore....to strong and my guns get weak

I could need some spooning technique and lessons from you. I’m terrible at it. My shoulders get tired and my wrist gets strained and sore.

Once you get the hang of it you won't get as tired slinging spoons. Now the real workout is when your trying to race a dolphin going after your Mac once you hook it.

If you're throwing a spoon without any extra weight behind it you will hurt yourself slinging it that hard. 4oz sinker rig is easy, just a flip of the wrists then the weight takes over...underhand casts only for me. I have a 2oz sinker attached to my top water chugger, not enough to sink but easy to throw and gets great distance, that rig I throw overhead but after a dozen or so casts the concrete roadbed starts to eat the spoon. I use long leaders
