Hour and a half drive to get there but love the skyway piers. Big fish available.

Tried two different spots for Pompano, neither being SSP or NSP, with no luck. Was thinking about the SSP the other day, and the fish that are still there having to eat, regardless of the weather. Do those grouper on the rockpiles migrate in the Winter? I would like to catch a big fat one even if I did have to release it. I was beginning to think this forum was temporarily shut down until Spring. Thanks bige3513 for asking. Wish I had more to tell you.

Red Grouper opens in a few days, wonder if anyone has ever caught one on the rockpiles before or they deeper water?

My wife caught a red grouper off the NSP rockpiles but it was only about 15 inches long. It rocked her up for about 5 minutes then swam out or got pulled out. If I remember correctly it had to be 20 to keep. Would have made a couple nice sandwiches.

postimg.cc/ThQttw0qThe Spanish mackerel don't normally show up again in any numbers till about mid February each year. Here is a partial screenshot of one of my fish logs from 2018. I haven't kept a log in a few years.

Never got a keeper red from the piers only a few close calls. Sheepshead should be plentiful by now but not my favorite fish to hunt after.
I managed another big cobia from Apollo beach area a few weeks back. But that’s about all the luck I’ve had this month
