The bait are tiny, even for my 1/4 mesh net. The bigger bait are under those tiny bait. There are no snappers during the time I am out there. Heard there were some in the morning. Only saw a few snook caught.
Probably the water is too hot for those snappers out there. Got to find deeper bridges to find them I guess.

I was out there 8/5 for an hour or so to get bait. Saw about 4-5 good size mangroves caught on the first tee. Current was weak and tide was low so no fish were being caught adjacent to the rocks.

Only time I ever caught snapper at Fort Desoto was on a slack tide during the evening. About the time they started biting, they closed the pier.

I get them all the time there... Just this one day... It's weird. Feels like the snapper just move somewhere else.

Only time I ever caught snapper at Fort Desoto was on a slack tide during the evening. About the time they started biting, they closed the pier. The pier closes at sunset. Used to be open until 11pm. Sure wish they would go back to the later close!
