Hour and a half drive to get there but love the skyway piers. Big fish available.

Got to the pier at 5 p.m. and my wife was able to Sabiki up as many greenbacks as we wanted. Good sized ones from closer to the beginning of the pier. Drove out to post #84 and started fishing. Outgoing tide until sunset. My nephew hooked something by the rockpiles that surfaced and at a glance I thought it was a King Mackeral. It was about 3 feet long. Just caught a glimpse before it got off. Wasn't a shark. I managed to catch one ladyfish. That was it on them. About midnight my nephew catches a 41 inch blacknose shark. He decided to get a dozen shrimp at the baithouse. Handpicks. 9 bucks a dozen. Crazy. Tried them in mulitple spots with no luck. Baitstealers. A guy close to us was able to catch a nice snapper on the incoming tide by the rockpiles on a piece of cut pinfish. Tide flow was rated at high. Ended up leaving at 2 a.m.

Bummer....plan your trips during weak tides, and don't fish around an upcoming full moon, and don't use shrimp for mangos, cut those sardines in 2" chunks and avoid the bait stealers.....that is all, thank you

Already planning the next trip. Still trying to get the piers figured out. The guy who caught the mango when we were there gave it to me. Never had it before. Until tonight. Worth targeting. Thanks for the info shotgun. Any thoughts about hanging a chumbag?

I wouldn't waste time or money with a chumbag. Sounds like you were trying to fish against an incoming tide, bad idea unless using artificials that are heavy enough to get good distance but not with bait. Fish the pier pilings with bait, lots of good snappers there. Another tip about the baitfish there...bait will always be on the west side during an incoming, then move to the east side during the fall, so plan your trips to catch the last hr of an incoming and load up on bait first then fish the slack followed by the fall. With bait always fish with the tide, not against

Green light better investment than a chum bag. Been tough for me the past couple trips. If I could plan my trips around the tides I would take shotguns advice haha

Something like the 23 of this month. High tide at 8 p.m. with an average tide flow. OH yeah! Only problem is it's 3 weeks away. Have to fill in down here somewhere. Something to look forward to.
