A couple from PA stopped into Barracuda Bob's Island Surf & Sports the other day and said they wanted to catch Mangrove Snapper, but didn't have a boat to go offshore. Capt. Joe told them they didn't need a boat to catch all they wanted from shore just a few minutes from here, then set them up with the right chum, bait and rigs to get the job done. Two hours later Capt. Joe visited their fishing spot and they already had four fat snapper in the box and a keeper Gag grouper on a stringer in the water. They had whitebait chummed up like crazy and Capt. Joe could see more snapper coming up from the deep to chow down on their chum and baits. Wanna know how to do the same? Come see us at Barracuda Bob's Island Surf & Sports and we'll hook you up! Capt. Joe This Was Their Catch:

Nice report. Keeper gag on stringer though? I am sure that the Gag was released after the Capt. Joe got there. At least the Gag was kept in the water. Capt. Joe is a very Ligit Guy.

I go into Barracuda Bob’s all the time. They have the best shrimp in the area by far and amazing customer service.

The Causeway is a Great Place to Fish as well. I have caught Macks, Kings, Snapper, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Snook & Pompano throughout the years there. I have known that Small Gags have also been caught there.

The most success I’ve had on the causeway has been off the seawall on the honeymoon island side of the 2nd bridge, it’s not pressured nearly as much as the other spots. The shoreline is only good for reds, trout, and flounder in my experience. If you’re up for a long walk, the north tip of honeymoon is some of the best shore fishing in the Tampa Bay Area this time of year. Can catch snook, pompano, kings, big macks, and tarpon out there right now.

Thxs. looking for places to launch a kayak, Skyway area from cockroach back country to eg simmons pretty much void of fish. 4th street bridge off 275 blocked off due to construction.

I’ve only kayak fished the area like 10-15 times but I don’t think you could go wrong with either side. I personally prefer to launch off the south side up near the second bridge though. From there you can hit hurricane pass, caladesi island, and the honeymoon to caladesi ferry dock.

Midway down the Causeway on the left is where most people launch their Kayaks at. Look for the Flags & Restroom. Dunedinfisher knows where it is at, as in His Post.

Here is a Great Mack, King, Snapper & Pompano Spot on the North End. Fish the South End for the Snook. Look for Sail Honeymoon to Launch Your Kayaks. It is in the Middle of the Causeway. Copy & Paste it to Your Browser. Do Not Click on it.www.google.com/maps/@28.059106,-82.8101931,368m/data=!3m1!1e3
