Got my fingers crossed.... Recent weather forecasts call for a more easterly flow which should help push away the red tide.

Over the past week, K. brevis was observed at medium to high concentrations in and offshore of Pasco County (in six samples). From what the Maps show, there is No Red Tide at the North Pier. And in Low Concentrations at the South Pier. The Red Tide is on the move with all of the Rain We have been having. Tampa Bay Red Tide Mapocgweb.marine.usf.edu/tbm/hab/

In Southwest Florida over the past week, The Red Tide was observed at background to high concentrations in and offshore of Pinellas County, background to high concentrations in Hillsborough County, background to medium concentrations in Manatee County. In Northwest & Southwest Florida over the past week, fish kills suspected to be related to Red Tide were reported in Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties. Looks like a few grouper in those pictures, that's a real shame.

Looks like a few grouper in those pictures, that's a real shame. I was told there was a Tarpon, a Large Mango Snapper, 1 Gag Grouper, Tripletail & a Black Grouper.

Went to Green Key Park in New Port Richey Monday afternoon, saw a bunch of dead pins, grunts, cats and cowfish. Scattered all over the mangroves, the smell was unbearable. Very sad...

I feel like I caught way more fish when I was younger than I do these days. These red tide blooms, I feel like we don't fully recover from them before another hits.

Fox 13 was showing the waters around St. Pete after the storm with large fish kills even goliath grouper washing up to shore ,don't know if that was recent or storm related. not looking good..

Tampa Bay fishing Channel just posted a video, they are still catching fish in the bay, you just have to go where the red tides not at(* south of the bridge ) tons of dead bait fish with even a few goliath grouper floating around.

I Myself have seen by pictures & heard that people are still catching Fish in the Bay. I believe that the Storm Last Week made things worst. It is not the 1st time & I am sure it will not be the last. As Flatsrunner has said, We will just have to Fish around the Red Tide Areas.

Looking at the Red Tide Maps, it looks like the Piers are not affected with the Red Tide.

Very sad state of the environment, you ready to get used to it as new normal? As long as nothing changes, this is our new future. Specifically, is the state moving on drilling the deep well to inject the waste water from Piney Point deep underground? Or are we destined for another round of dumping waste water right into the bay next year and a continuation of another round of red tide? I believe what we are seeing is directly due to dumping Piney Point waste water into bay just a few months ago, many people seem to forget so quickly but the environment doesn't forget. 215,000,000 gallons of "fertilizer" right into the bay and this is what we get, no surprise, it was predicted by marine scientist that this is what would happen and it did. The huge load of nitrogen and phosphorous does not just dilute away as many people keep saying (wishing), dilution is not the solution to pollution, it is a lie, a red herring to get you to look the other way.
You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. Facts. Between Lake O and now Piney point (plus the wastewater dumped into Tampa bay in Tampa), we are going to lose our beloved waters. The most infuriating part is that no one aside from residents want to do anything about it. I’ve seen people say “vote” but I promise that politicians - from both sides - care more about money than fixing the problems here. All I want is for my toddler son to be able take part in this fishery in a few years and that vision seems to be dying.

I think Lake O is a long term problem, the contributors of pollution immense in size, that will take generations to fix, if it is ever truly to be fixed. Piney Point on the other hand is small in comparison, but deadly for sure as we clearly see, but it can be addressed through the use of the deep injection well proposed - the idea is to inject the waste water deep underground (God only knows where that will end up...) to avoid future need to discharge to the bay. I don't like the idea of injecting it underground but it's way better than dumping it in the bay or into the gulf like they did the time prior, which by the way I believe caused the prior massive red tide which effected offshore environment and moved inshore and caused the closure of fisheries. The State denied that was caused by Piney Point discharges but we know better; connect the dots. They dumped offshore using barges that time and red tide formed offshore. They dumped this time into the bay (I'm sure to save money on barges) and red tide formed in the bay, coincidence? It is Piney Point. Estuary Program is on record blaming Piney Point.
So what is the answer? All I can suggest is contacting FDEP to pressure them to make sure the injection well is underway and completed to avoid these environmental catastrophes. Contact EPA (Federal level) and complain FDEP is not doing their job. These agencies are vulnerable to being sued for not doing their jobs, it has happened already to force EPA to implement the Clean Water Act, and they did implement the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Program, which ironically is supposed to regulate the same pollution being dumped into our bay that caused the current red tide. This is a long term problem managed by people with short term memory.

This was on FOX 13 News - Tampa BayThis is Real Sad ! Two goliath groupers washed ashore in St. Pete this morning, including a 400-pound one that had to be removed with a backhoe. For days, the city has been overwhelmed with dead fish in the waterways and along the shore. So far, over 614 tons of dead fish have been collected in Pinellas County.

614 TONS of dead fish. That's 1.2 million pounds. Just in Pinellas County.

Called Bellaire Bait shop just now, there is no red tide in that area. He said people encounter it as they go out to the beach and Gulf. Good place to catch pinfish for grouper fishing.
