I have a question for those of you who wade fish. What do you recommend for footwear? I have used old sneakers but they break down quickly and smell rank. I have tried crocs but they don't fit right. Going barefoot not good.

Neoprene wading shoes range in price from $20-$150+.
I use Walmart cheap neoprene sneakers for around $10. Consider them disposable, if they last a year its till a bargain.

Waders, screw the shoes. I have been bumped by a shark wading before and have seen several in the process. I like the idea of some kind of barrier so when you get bumped the shark feels vinyl and not soft skin. Especially this time of year, May and June = shark spawn.

Most sharks take a bite to see if you are what they want, shoes, waders are not gonna stop them, I've sustained more injuries from salt water catfish than anything else.

+1 on the Walmart water shoes.. Been using them for years. My last pair lasted over a year until I left the tailgate down and one of them blew out the back of the truck. At 10 bucks, you can't really go wrong. And they've held up walking over oyster beds and pretty slick rocks!

I’m from the north, I use field and stream creek wading boots. They work good and are a little more heavy duty than just wading shoes so u can step on whatever

I never throw old sneakers away when they get old they are used for yard work then for wading ... after a few months of wading they usually break down and the cycle begins again... My wife use's the cheap Walmart ones also and they last her a season.
