Small community on here, I don't want to give away all my secrets but hear me out... The skyway is a great fishing spot on its day, but we all know it can be inconsistent. This is the case for most of Pinellas countys fishing piers and so called high traffic spots. Im telling you, start looking for smaller spots, no one knows about, maybe even in residential neighborhoods. I have 2-3 spots I use year around, I live in Bellair, no more than 10 minutes from my house. 95 percent of the time I go there, I come home with more than a few fish, provided conditions are good, using the right bait, etc. The best thing about these spots, no one knows of them, and its a fishery that will continue to provide for me and remain rather untouched. I have caught limits of mackerel, snapper, sheepshead, even legal size grouper, massive trouts and flounder and more. The point is, the best places as Ive found and fished in are either only accessible by boat, or places where near no one would ever think to fish. This is just a bit of advice for everyone, as I know we are most definitely approaching a time where the Southern areas of Pinellas County will be rather unsuitable for fishing with the Piney Point Dump very soon.
MY one tip: Residential Canals facing inside the bay (preferably near grass flats)

Im sorry, a little correction. I live in Bellair Bluffs, but the places are near reddington/indian rocks so maybe 15 minutes away

I have a tidal fed "lake" that very very few people know holds fish. Found it by accident about 20 years ago on a nature walk with the wife looking for wild flowers. Always good for some reds and 20-30lb. tarpon. It's in Pinellas county.......somewhere.

I got a spot only accessible by kayak, somewhere in clearwater... Good for variety

Hard hit places... you got to time it correctly and fish it differently..

Learning to read the surf and learning the process of where the fish will be if they are feeding within the area is a great skill to obtain. I cannot tell you the amount of times I see people fishing the surf or ANY spot in general just the improper way and missing fish I know 100% are there and feeding. I sometimes will walk 2 or 3 miles in a morning beach walk until I find the area where fish are holding. But no matter what, if you know what to keep an eye out for the fish will eventually take your presentation.
