Went around 7:00am and came home around 2:00pm. It was pretty slow during the day, especially when it got hot. Bait was plentiful. Caught some 1 inch pins to use as live bait. Caught a nice 25 inch gator trout on one, had two other fish slam my other pins but ended up rocking me in the process. Used live shrimp and caught two more specks which were released, along with a keeper mango and a cowfish. Saw blue runners attacking bait in the morning. Tried for pompano again but only caught a huge hardhead catfish which I kept. It was an okay day, but it would've been better if the water didn't get so hot.

Thanks for the Sand Key report. Anyone fish Ft. Desoto recently? Fished ft de Soto Wednesday afternoon. Caught snapper on the gulf pier on bull minnows until I ran out of bait. Only 1 legal one though. Both piers are holding tons of baits. Haven't fished the flats out there in a bit though

I'm gonna take a little break from saltwater for now. I plan on going back out onto the skyway on June 4th, so that'll give me plenty of time to save up on tackle and money. Gonna do a good ol' 24 hour trip again! Hopefully I'll catch my first gag this time...
