Saw on a number of media sources...Channel 13 and Bay News 9...that FL state parks opening up. Not quite sure yet if the Skyway Piers will reopen that day...will keep watching.
Changed the title of the thread as the Skyway piers will be open starting 8 am May 4th. More details later.

That's what's been reported, but I'm more curious about the beaches reopening....Ventura Beach in Cali opened and the crowd was estimated at 80,000....ha. Pinellas said there will be around 100 deputies stationed at the beach access points.....wouldn't want that duty for those wages......let the bodies hit the floor

From a couple of fishing groups on FB, Saw news that skyway piers open up at 8am Monday the 4th at 50 per cent capacity. No information on length of pier hours. Please be careful and keep your distance out there. Fish on!
Later info...piers open 24 × 7 after initial Monday open. Not sure how they will measure 50 percent capacity.
Note: The reopening information comes from skyway piers management.

ditto let the bodies hit the floor I am not going to rush right out there. Will bide my time and take extra care. It's more than my life but my wife's too as she has a number of serious medical conditions.

I imagine it will be more crowded than the usual because people are tired of being stuck at home. I practice social distancing every time I fish out there regardless. I get annoyed as bloody hell when someone pulls right up next to me when there is tons of room and rock piles open to fish. Between the crowds and dolphins I have become a week night only fisherman. Screw the day time crowds and dolphins. Maybe we can train some kamikaze pelicans to dive bomb them with a gullet full of dynamite.

Hey do you guys know of the the pier will be back to 24 hour operations or just open during the day? I’m tracking the 50%capacity part. Looking at tide charts, I see a decent window around sunset on Thursday for pulling big mangoes out of the rock piles

Don't know yet, but we will tomorrow. I might ease out there and see what's up, even though tomorrow is not a good day for catching fish....but Wed and Thurs is

I have to say, I am disgusted w humanity ! Sanibel causeways opened last week, I went fishing Sunday from the shore. Some people are just f###ing pigs, I'm soo disgusted. Baby diapers, hundreds of cans, everything you can imagine thrown on the ground with no regard. I think when I was a kid my father (or mother) would have slapped the crap out of me if I littered. I wish I was law enforcement, I would ticket every son of a bitch out there. Generally I would pick up what I can but just got a new Caddy and had no empty bags. Let's hope if the state or county's are opening that they will be fully staffed and take care of business. Our pier is not much better and some of the clients are the same. I just don't understand how people can pollute and walk away feeling ok with themselves.

A family was there and watched as the dad left behind a bottle of dish cleaner. Yes, great stuff for the environment. Normally I don't say anything but this time I did. I said. Hey buddy did you not see the volunteers cleaning up. He did pick it up with an attitude.

Is there still a line to get on the pier? Heard they hit capacity early this morning and have been doing “ one off, one on” all day? Just curious if it’s died down at all. I’m considering going out there Thursday evening and fishing into the night until I get my snapper limit, but I don’t want to wait just to get on the pier
