I’m going somewhere Sunday, either taking my 15’ v Hull out if it calm or Desoto. Weather will dictate.

Gonna be starting at the north pier looking for grouper this afternoon. I’ll be with my girlfriend and her niece in my black CR-V. Probably have on a big sun hat. Come say hi if you see me. I might also scoot down to the south pier if nothings happening on the north side.

5 hours I got nothing but bait. from noon til 5 pm. I was in between the first 2 bathrooms. I used 4 dozen live shrimp and dozens of live greenbacks, spoons, light 1/4 oz. knocker rigs, heavy 1 oz. knocker rigs, bobbers with a 4 foot lead, 8 foot lead, tandem jigs, gulp artificial mini blue crabs on the bottom, mid water and under bobber float. I let them all soak, slow retrieve, fast retrieve on spoons....nothing. No one around me was catching either, all day. All the conditions were perfect for a bite from 1230pm to 230pm as per the solunar and coefficient chart. There was more bait pods and diving birds on the south side of the SSP than I had ever seen offshore. WTF.

5 snappers... 4 bluerunners.. and 5 macks.
Would have more macks if there wasn't a family of 5 that fishes right on top of me after I landed my first mack.. pretty much more cramped than fishing on a party boat after that mack... >.<
Hated the weekend with a passion but only time I can go fishing. ooo well.

I was there from about 2 till 5:30ish, a little South of the Bait shop. 1 short snapper, pins and a puffer. Score one for the snapper, as the one I caught bit me on the thumb as I was removing the hook! It hurt quite a bit and drew blood.

My wife totally surprised yesterday and said let’s all go fishing this Sunday morning. WTF? Something is up. But heck ya. Got there 9 am. Perfect incoming for wife and daughter. First time ever for wife. Had a hard time timing pigfish and pins but when she finally got the hang of it landed over a dozen. Daughter plenty of pigfish and pins. Me. I was busy baiting. But did manage to get 3 18” macs. Great day. I still can’t figure out why so many people out there have no clue how to fish. One dad was literally using green shoe lace as leader with over 3 oz lead looking for small fish. Also. Not sure what we saw lingering under us but it had an outline of kingfish or Bonita and was huge. 24-30”. But do these fish lurk around?

Went to NSP this morning with my sister in law and her boyfriend who are visiting from New York. They never fished saltwater before. Got there at 6:30, bite was ok until after the tide flipped and started racing. I spent a lot of time baiting them up and fixing their messes but we had fun. Brought home one fat 12 inch mango, one large grunt and a 14 inch Mack. Thru back a bunch of short mango and lanes. Lots of blue runner and small jacks caught. Sister in law reeled in four blue runners at the same time on the Sabiki, and I caught and released one short Gag, maybe 14-15 inches. Definitely not a good day but the weather was nice and we enjoyed the day!

Looks like everyone had fun but nothing epic. However, watching new comers catch their first fish. Epic within itself. And. Something is odd. My wife Is ok with me going tonight for midnight mango madness. I think she knows I got a huge work project coming up and this week is probably my last multiple fishing days per week for a while. I do have to troll for Kings at least once next month. Yup. On my yak. Hope the cruise ships don’t create large wakes.

Score one for the snapper, as the one I caught bit me on the thumb as I was removing the hook! It hurt quite a bit and drew blood. I was scaling mangos many years ago and got stabbed by a spine on the dorsal fin. It drew blood too and hurt. I was able to continue after several minutes.
