Hey guys, its yet another Skyway Fishing Piers regular forum member. I had a question: Do tarpon and chum work together? and if so what chum? Thanks Yam p.s. I hope this forum works out very well and that many regulars and new members will join and enjoy this forum

Yam, I believe that Rip was saying the other day that while chumming for Albies with greenbacks that it started the Tarpon hitting. Might have been Knotty, but I think could be a benefit, like the Rabi said, "it couldn't hoit"

chumming does work on the poons but it's gotta be done in moderation. we use the baits we catch in the cast net (threadfins, sardines, cigar minnows). toss in a few that are cut in half first and see how many pinfish and mangos appear in your chumline. if they stick around and start coming to the surface, move on to another spot. if they scatter suddenly with the chum still in the water, then throw out a whole one with a hook in it. the pinfish scatter cause there is something big lurking in the shadowline, usually tarpon or flipper. 50/50 chance to hook a silver king.
