Might as well make the 24 hour pass count. No macs. Fished between 1st and 2nd bathroom. Felt to solid bites, nothing to show for it. More 4"-6" snappers. What the heck. Did all the keepers relocate?

Sorry to hear about the small fish. My guess is the heavy rains have thrown off the fishing. I will not fish until the weather pattern changes.

Hit the pier by 7:30, had first Mack before tide changed then went after the snapper, in between snapper I watched for the Mack’s to attack the schools of bait fish then used my sinker spoon rig. It was a little slow today the winds were too high for my liking and we had a huge down pour around 1pm cleaned my fish and was home by 3pm. The Asian guy in the van the parks at the large opening after the bait store got 12 Mack this morning, he gets there before sunrise and uses a bobber rig with a spoon, Wednesday he had a king bite off his Mack right under the pier, and it broke his reel, all he got back was the head of the Mack. The guy next to him lost a big king it was 40” plus fish, he had it at the surface and didn’t have a pier gaff ready and lost the king, that fish I saw with my own eyes.

are y'all possitive that king wernt a cuda? I agree with You SkyJay. The water temperature is too warm around here for a King for this time of year. I have lost several Macks at this time of year in past years due to Barracudas when the water is warm over at the Fort Desoto Gulf Pier & the Skyway Piers. Also, Kings normally take the whole Fish & possibly the hook. Barracudas normally will see the Hook & leave the Head. I have seen that happen several times at the Skyway Piers.

are y'all possitive that king wernt a cuda? It’s possible, when I came upon the Asian guy it had just happened like right before I stopped my truck. I did not see the 🐟 The guy next to him caught what looked like a king, although it could have been a cuda, I was about a hundred feet from them and could see the fish at the surface of the water. It was never landed so king or cuda we will never know for certain 🥴

Barracuda feed on an array of prey including fish such as jacks, grunts, groupers, snappers, small tunas, mullets, killifishes, herrings, and anchovies by simply biting them in half. Barracudas depend heavily on their eyesight when they are out hunting. When hunting, they tend to notice everything that has an unusual color, reflection, or movement. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarracudaA few Years back, a Friend of Mine reached over the Rail at the SS Pier to pull up a Large Spanish Mack & a 4' to 5' Barracuda jumped out of the Water & bit the Mack in half just below the hook. It almost took his hand & arm. He looked over at Me & said that He would never do that again. After that He began slinging the Macks over the Rail. Another encounter just a few days later, a Spanish Guy was leaning over the Rail at the SS Pier wearing a Jewelry Chain around His Neck looking for Baitfish to net and a Barracuda jumped out of the water and almost took a chunk out of him. If you are out Fishing at any of the Piers and wearing jewelry around Your neck, take it off. It may save Your life. Barracudas are just like Macks and some other varieties of Fish. They go after things that are shinny & give off a reflection.

What were you using for bait? Both days, md shrimp. I never caught such small snappers at the pier before. You may had just found a school of smallies or if there were bigger ones the shrimp didn't have a chance to get to them. Try a small pinfish, the little ones should leave it alone enough, that if there a bigger ones among them you have a chance at it. If using just shrimp after catching two or three small ones in an area I usally move.
