Went out on mostly cloudy day with a NE wind. Was not sure I'd catch much. Went to the boat ramps between 1-230pm and targeted sheepshead. Did catch 4 free lining shrimp pieces BUT all were about an inch short. Also caught a feisty ladyfish. Tried a spoon for awhile but no hits.
Took a break and then fished the small pier from 3 to 445pm. Hit a school of small blue runners and caught 6. No macks as I hoped. Tried a spoon. Blue runners bit on a sabiki. Tide was out going at both locations. One of the guys who was there earlier said that several nice pompano were taken on the in coming tide.
I wanted to fish another hour or two around sun down with the incoming but rain was coming in off the Gulf. Nice day to be out, cool but not cold. Nice to fish without a lot of sun.

Note: I had intended to fish SSP yesterday but when I drove by there, the places I wanted to fish were jammed, could see that from the road. Stopped at the rest station and then drove to Ft. DeSoto. Did lose an hour of the incoming tide and by the time I set up, the tide was going out. Seems like from recent reports, the incoming tide has been better.
Did not mention in my initial report, that flipper and his friends were really active by the small pier. I lost one fish and rig to them. The tourists were real pleased to see the dolphins that close. A manatee also came by the pier.
