Finally able to get out to the piers after awhile. Arrived at 7:00 and there were tons of bait in the water along with overcast conditions. Decided to start casting out to the reef for a little while with frozen shrimp and managed to catch 2 mangos, a gag grouper and a nice sheepshead. After awhile it really slowed down and I tried throwing out a gotcha plug. No Mack’s were interested in that. Ended at 10:00
An overall very slow day and I saw nothing being caught out there besides bait. Have a good day out on the piers guys and I hope you have more luck than I did.

How large it is compared to the Skyway? What do they charge to fish there. Might be worth a field trip. Any pictures of it. BTW, those Cordell spoons have great action, ordered more as snags claimed a couple at Ft. DeSoto. I even had a squid attack one.

City also pays fishing license for pier. So tourists don't need licenses. Concessions included beer and wine. (Pizza, sandwiches, salads..etc)

Will check Academy next time. They delivered real quick...3 days. I would guess that pier only being 1000 feet (similar to length of Gulf pier at Ft. DeSoto) can get crowded. The piers at Ft. DeSoto don't require a license. $5 fee to get into the park.
