Fished the small pier at Ft. Desoto from 1030 am to 1 pm. Rising tide with water rather cloudy. More people than usual given tourist season. Only one person out of the maybe 25 people fishing caught anything decent. He got two pompano (about 13-14 inches) and a large mack. Another fellow had two mack breakoffs. I had one cut off my 60 pound leader with a pomp jig and another dropped off. Only fish I caught were a lizard fish on a spoon and a pinfish on a sabiki.
About 1230 pm, I saw the low clouds usher in the cold front. After that winds picked up sharply and temps began to ease downward. I tried to Gulf pier for a short while but winds had gotten too strong. Also fished some of the sheltered waters across from the pier but the cold front shut off any bite. Drove over to the boat ramps but the high NW winds murked up the waters there.
