we got to NSP at 3:15 am, set up inbetween the bathroom and the bait shop on the bay side. I had my son with me as usual but we brought my sisters friends son with us as well. this was his first visit . we set up the rods and i had full intention of going for shark and switching for macks and snapper by daylight. i took a ride up to the bait shop and bought a few dozen greenies so i could get the boys going while i went for ladyfish so i set up for shark. (baitshop didnt have any in stock) . after an hour of having a dead stick i switched to using a sabiki rig and see if i could get a few pins maybe or some good size threads but nothing for almost 45 minutes. then out of the blue there was a twitch on the rod so i grabbed it quickly and then i had a big hit on the sabiki rod, as i brought it up i saw a small lady fish on it! now as i was about to bring it over the rail it fell off the hook and back in the water it went !!! now we are geeting close to 6 am and no large bait fish just the small greenies. once the sun came up monster thread coming up on the sabiki 3 and 4 at a time too. i caught a sand sea trout , my sons friend got a spanish mack during thier run this morning. that was a bit short. the trout was short. so at 9:30os we packed up and left. we gave the guy nex to us all the bait and headed out, besides that the pier was dead today too!!

Ahh man you started all wrong...
Go for the snapper during the darkness.. Catch your bait on the tsunami bleeding hook sabiki.. Get em at wally world for like 97 cents..Smallest you can find. In my opinion there the best produce well and are like 12 to 15lb test.. not like the mustads that use 6 or 8 lb test..
Work the pillings moving from one to the other ..egg sinker and flurocarbon seem to work for me. Sinker size is whatever it takes to hold bottom for a few seconds..
Sardines are my go to for the snappers toss the sabiki to the farthest end of the school of dines.. and work the top fast .. youll get them sardines as well as threads and greenies.. and lots of baby macks like it up top too.
Work them dines on the bottom or float em... The macks, ladyfish, snapps, grouper will be all over em .. but hang on.... so is mr Tarpon.. there feeding on tehm lil dines also .. so dont put the pole down . if your freelining or bobber fishin..
best of luck next time..
