Hello Everyone! I got out to the Dunedin Causeway around 6:30 PM on Friday. Was with a few friends trying to catch anything that we could take home! Ended up staying until around 10:00 PM and had a blast! Lots of hard hits, lots of fish, unfortunately most of them were undersized. Caught 15-20 Mangroves, only 2 keepers. 10 or so Sea Bass, literally every since one was 9.99" it seemed, so all were safely returned. Few white grunts, of course some catfish at night! And one special, crazy instance....We caught a damn spiny lobster! We threw it back to later discover they are in season, and it was definitely big enough to keep.....Should have done a little research in the moment, instead of having my heart broken by a fellow member . Maybe next time. Some pictures are in the attached FB post. www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=728553717353824&id=100005976078572

I just talked to the FWC at (863)648-3200 & You can keep Spiny Lobsters around Tampa Bay.
1. You must have a Florida Fishing License plus a Lobster Permit-(Annual $ 5.00) to keep a Spiny Lobster unless You are Exempt
2. Dates: Aug. 6 - March 31 Limit - 6 per person per day Equal to the daily bag limit
Spiny Lobster must have a minimum carapace length of greater than 3 Plus Inches and the measurement must take place in the water. The carapace is measured beginning at the forward edge between the rostral horns, excluding any soft tissue, and proceeding along the middle to the rear edge of the carapace.

Ahhhh thanks for the info Mackerelman. I was thinking about it a little bit more and was thinking that a permit was needed. Good thing we through it back.
