The only day I could get out this week was Saturday....not my favorite day to go to the pier, but it's better than not going at all. It was crowded, which made moving around and hitting multiple spots difficult. Not much going on for me or anybody else that I saw early in the day. Just a lot of large schools of stingrays moving parallel to the pier going toward the toll booth. Oh and Manatees and flipper and his crew. Had a lot of small Magos, Lanes, Jacks, and Bluerunners. Pilchards of all sizes were easy to come by as were large Threadfins. Quite a few people were fishing for Macks in quite a few different ways, but I did not see anyone bring one over the rails. After a few hours with little results, I switched to plan b. The day before I was able to (literally) dig up some Mud Crabs, time to try for some Shepshead. I went to the spot where I often see them and they were there, high up on the pilings. I remember a thread where someone said ( SkyJay I think) that he "walked" the bait across the pilings as they are hard to catch when that high up. Well, It worked and I took home two for dinner. Great fight in them! I only wish I had more than 8 crabs, I might have had a shot at more. Once again this forum has helped me to catch fish.
