That guy has one of the best review. I know he doesn't rate this reel that great but for live bait and you don't expect it to be waster proof, you should be fine. I bought one on impulse because it is so cheap.

I have a 6500LL and love it. Not sure I'd ever need one larger. I saw Mackerelman's 10500 size reel and would never consider owning a spinning reel that big. But with that said, I do use conventional reels in the surf and off piers.

The battle 2 is a better reel and generally cheaper. I have one of those in a 4 or 5000 model and it is nice, but I wouldn't buy another. I'd go with the B2. Bonus you can get B2 spools for 8-10 bucks and have mono and braid on hand.

I believe the SpinFisher V also has the slammer drag system.

I believe the SpinFisher V also has the slammer drag system. You are Absolutely Correct. I know because I have 2 of them. Mine are one of the Best Reels Made that I have ever owned. When I went Off-Shore Last Year, I pulled in a 20lb. Grouper with this Reel with No Problems.

Ok. Why do I need a live liner feature? Better what is it? Also shocker do hockey? What is that? I need to stop buy Walmart cheap reels.

Live liner/baitrunner is pretty fantastic for fishing multiple rods when you don't have proper rod holders. Or even when you do and a big fish could break you off or break your rod. The light drag lets the fish take line without feeling the rod. Especially good for fish that grab bait, mouth it and swim off a bit before swallowing. Not so great for fish that grab bait and swim back into cover. When I'm actively fishing with one rod for say sheeps, I'll put bait out on a baitrunner on the other rod(s). When you hear a reel screaming you know you have a fish and you don't have to worry that they'll pull your rod in.
Also very nice for night fishing. Sort of like the clicker on the old conventional reels that signals something took your bait. No need to watch rods for bites when you have a baitrunner.
