What's different with the walmart reels? Comparing penn battle to penn battle? Most likely nothing different. Though I heard that they use cheaper parts for the item that is sold at walmart. An example of this are the hooks on the diver plug lure. Same model but different hooks... because walmart pressure the brand to sell to them for less,. If you talking about other model and make of the reel... Let just say those are cheaper reel.

Btw I catch 30" plus snook, macks , flounder, trout , sheephead , snapper, pompano and cobia off the set up.

No hating on ya, montyfl! I've got 4 of these, started this saltwater thing with them. Nine footers, use on the piers and surf. I got them at Dick's Sporting Goods for $49 but haven't seen them there again. Wally World to the rescue! I suggest them as a good starter setup. Aside from replacing the rod tips on 2, pretty decent gear. The reel is a bit underwhelming but certainly doable for the price. D
