Well.... Went looking for Snapper. Did not find one! I hit all my regular spots and simply did not get any. What our whole crew did get was: 1) 5 Gag grouper (small) - I love catching these things. Very pretty fish. 2) 3 Sharks - 1 Sand and 2 Bonnets all about 17 inches avg 3) 1 Large porgy 4) 10-12 decent sized grunts. These things have invaded. Are these a summer fish or something?? 5) The usual assortment of trash fish and pins We tried all sorts of techniques. We also had some pretty good breakoffs too. The best part was just being out there. It was a beautiful night. We fished from about 6-12am. Hopefully it will pick up again soon. I think I will try the Gandy this week. Overall one thing I learned is that I like the START of a tide change more than the END of a tide change. I have never done well out there at the end of a tide change. Net net... Kids had a good time, family and friends had a good time. thats what its all about. I even got to meet a person from the forum. Filletnrelease, it was great to finally meet you. Hope you did well out there overnight. Fishindad

That's a great report, my son and I were down there also from about 7:30 to 12:00am. You definitely caught more than us, but we are newbies on the pier. We had a great time and look forward to "mastering" the fishing down there. What were you using to catch that evening? I'm trying to learn as much as I can. We pretty much saw pinfish and grunts while we were there. I had a really nice break off, but I guess that's just part of how things go. But you're right it was a great night for fishing, it made for a great first experience on the pier.

Nice report! Im still waiting for a shark bycatch myself. Always see people on the pier landing small ones.
What type of grunts did ya get? Key west, or the little tomtate ones?? Weve been getting quite a few tomtates while trying to get pinfish.
