Does anyone know a good place to catch shrimp in Pinellas County?

Although I've never done it, I have heard that Ft Desoto grass flats on the outgoing tide is good. Also heard they were a little scarce this year.

yea. I heard they were scarce too. Maybe that is why the bait shpps are selling out so early.
I also know some of the summers months are the months they get ready to move offshore to spawn.

Theres quite a bit of em at the piers at night.
18 ft dip net and alot of patience and free time..... Theres some jumbo mumbos out there..

I can vouch for the scarce part. Went out to Ft. D. our usual spot. Got about 3 or so dozen, but we worked hard for those.

if you go out to sand key piers at night with a bigh spot light and a fairly large dip net with small mesh and walk along the sea wall by the piers you can see the shimp huggin the rocks and the wall but you gotta be quick cause them suckers are fast....ive gotten as many as 3-5 dzn shrimp in one night for a kayak trip the next day hope this helps..

festeroo is right about shrimping the sand key piers. theres some fattys over there. snooker ive caught them in the net but its hard. its easier with a large net.

Im not sure where the shrimp are from.. never checked.. just see the deal and toss em on the grill... or salt em for future bait.
