Well folks, I'd like to thank all of you offered your advice for fishing the SSP. We had a great time even though we didn't catch a bunch. My son had a blast fishing with the sabiki rig and took his share of grunts (I think). At one point he almost lost his rod, because something slammed his sabiki rig as it was passing by and almost took the rod into the water. I had a pretty big fish on my line, but the line ended up getting cut just above the metal leader. But again, I just wanted to thank all of you for you advice. I really enjoy this forum it's a great resource from all who participate. We will difintely be going to the SSP again (just wish it was a little closer.
Thanks again,
Chris

Chris. That is what it is all about... Spend time with your son. 50 yrs from now he will still be taling about the fishing trips he went on with his old man.
I am 45 and I still remember the firt time fishing with My dad I casted the rod and got the hook stuck in the tree. Dad climb the tree to get my hook out and I yanked the line catching the hook in his finger. He was really mad. Still laugh at the story 40 yrs later.

My father started me fishing when I was barely old enough to walk. We lived in Pirates Cove Fish camp on Gandy, some of you old time St Petersburg people may remember. Fishing was a way of life. My father had been a commercial fisherman and his father before him. I started my boys the same way. The bonds between father and son get stretched once in a while, but a day on the water usually will set things right. It helps them build a respect for our natural resources and there elders. You won't find either of my boys on the end of Reddington, if you did, I guarantee there would be some folks swimming to shore.
