If Your Computer is Freezing Up; Go to Off Topic & Look for: Possible Fixes for Your Internet Explorer Freezing UpYou Most Likely Need the Correct Java Program Update Installed on Your Computer. If you have looked at this before, them Look at it Again. I have just Updated the Java Installation Information. I would recommend not using IE at all. I second that!! IE is, has, and will be trouble. Firefox for me. It's safer. Chrome snoops way too much for my liking. But I must say, since my Android updated to Mushmellow version I haven't had a problems on this here proboards. D

Any of You People that have any problems Logging on or Working through the Proboards Site should do as I just did Yesterday. Install Firefox to replace the Internet Explorer on Your Computers. It is GREAT ! It is FAST ! It is More SECURE ! It is Easy to Install !
I installed it Yesterday & I Love it. It is Very Similar to the Internet Explorer but Faster & Better with No Hangups & Freezes.
Microsoft has been Screwing Up ever since they Made Vista & Canned XP. Even Windows 10 has its Problems & Microsoft still has not Fixed it.
Try Firefox as You Internet Browser & You Will See.

MM: I agree. I had XP for a long time while I had my PC. Worked well. When I got my laptop, I have Windows 7 which is not bad. But I have heard there were big problems with VISTA and Windows 8. Glad I skipped those. I am leery of installing Windows 10. BTW, I like your new avatar. How do you like my flying bird?

Seabird: I don't Seabird on the side of it. LOL
As for Windows 10, I have read that many people like Myself that has a Free Upgrade & cannot get it to Install on their PC like Myself. Windows 10 also has the same problem like everyone else is having with the Screen Freezing. That interrupts My Fishing Plans.

MM: I have the free upgrade to Win10 but have not tried to install. My younger sister who is a computer expert will help me install it when I get up there. I have backed up my main files.

Seabird: It has So Many Bugs in it that Microsoft does not know how to Fix Them. Do a Search on "Problems with Windows 10". It Reminds Me of Vista. You will not be Fishing for a While. Instead of You hooking a Fish, Microsoft will hook You.

Mackerelman; Thanks for the heads up. I will discuss Win10 with my sister and we will go from there. I know she has dealt with 10 a number of times with clients of her bosses computer shop. I may just stick with Win7. I would like to fish! Shadowxmas is going to hold off on Win10 pending what I do.

I don't like it at all. They still try to incorporate tablet into the window. Do not like the design and they way they collect information about you.

MS tried to get cute developing a dual (PC and tablet) OS. Started with Windows Metro. And yes, Win 10 data mines the heck out of you. That's why I'm using my Android phone and tablet so much.

The problem was Slickdeal site. It allowed some malvertising to get thru. I enabled Adblock Plus on that site and no more problem. It was not the skywaypier proboard site that was causing the problem. The open tab with slickdeal site was the problem.

dpagates: I have not encountered any freezing or other problems with proboards while using my android smartphone. The smartphone cannot display as much of the site as the laptop does due to the small size of the screen.

Used to do some Tech Support on there. Great site!

Looks like your reference article is 6 years old. Things change, but Firefox and Chrome are both better than I.E.. The new Edge browser in Windows 10 is a big improvement, but really no need to use it. Browsers slow down for a number of reasons.

People who I have talked to says that the Windows 10 Browser still Freezes up. It is really not Windows, it is Microsoft. Microsoft just before they Unveiled Windows 10 said that they were not going to Repair & Do Any More Updates to Their Internet Explorers. They made the Edge Browser for Windows 10 to get All Computer Users out there to switch to Windows 10. It is a Money Making Investment they came up with to keep all of their People Employed & for Microsoft to Keep Making Money. Why do You think that it was Free to all Computer Users that had Windows 7 & Windows 8. Think About It ! It was so the Government would not come in & Shut them down because Microsoft keeps writing Operating Systems that Just Don't Work Correctly. But still there are Bugs in the Edge Browser. Yes they are Fixing it but slower than they Expected. This was the Main Reason the US Government Made Bill Gates step down just after Vista Came out. Vista Ripped Everyone Off. All of the Oooh's & Ahh's sold Vista. Vista did not have enough research in it before it was Released. I bought Vista & Nothing-(Other Software, Printers & Cameras) would work with it. The Government then stepped in & said that Bill Gates was Running a Monopoly & shut down Bill Gates & divided up Microsoft. Then the Next Version came out to replace it to give more time for Microsoft to Fix Windows Vista. We see how far that went. After Microsoft pulled the Plug on Windows XP, the Navy demanded Microsoft to stay with XP just for them. It was Granted. Windows XP was the Greatest Operating System out there. I use to write Computer Programs that worked with Windows XP. They all worked with Windows XP. Now Microsoft develops Software just to make a Buck & Hires Others to try to Fix it because their People can't fix their Screw-ups. The Basic Problem this time was the Last Update to IE 11. That was when it all started. Don't get caught up in the Windows Scheme. Just replace Your Internet Browser with Firefox or Chrome. You will not be sorry & save Yourself a Bunch of Money.

MM: You laid it out there for us! I agree with you on Windows XP. I had it with my PC and did not stop using it until I phased out my PC and went to my current laptop with Windows 7. I have had my laptop for 4 years and it has worked well. It has needed tuneups and other maintenance at times. You all have convinced me NOT to go to Windows 10. I am using Chrome right now which is on my laptop and it is much faster and no freeze ups on the proboards.
I mentioned to shadowxmas that she should try either Chrome or Firefox, she should have one of those on her laptop.
I wonder if anyone from the forum is using Apple? Heard Apple operating system is very good.

It's good... reason for that is software is design to work on certain hardware only.. much easier to code. and of course they design it so that it's easy for user to adapt from PC to OSX. You guys should look into linux(ubuntu) if all you do is surf the net. Free OS that you do not have to worry about getting a virus.

Of Course He gets down on His Knees & Fishes. That must be the Answer. I am just to Old to get down on My Knees and afraid I cannot get back up.

MM: I think now it is simply too hot for a decent bite (maybe except for Tears ). I recall last summer when the water was real hot, the bite was absent too. I had not caught a catfish this year until July 6th. Cats can be a sign of sluggish fishing and hot water.

Fish at night or really early in the morning. Also find running water.

Its no surprise that they will charge for business (Enterprise) installations. They have hinted at this for a while. The consumer revenue will come from pushed ads. Future retail licensees may also see a subscription fee, like they have done with Office365. Anyway, Windows 7 updates will be good til 2020 and Windows 8.1 til 2023. Any new pc's bought even now only come with Win 10. It is possible to downgrade them if you have a retail Win 7 license. Bottom line is, if your gonna be a Windows user you'll be on Windows 10 etc..in the future, or you can go to Apple or Linux. Of course if your just an internet user, you could always use an android device i.e. Chromebook etc..

But Win 10 will be a subscription base for home users soon enough. Unless business users totally dump Windows 10 and shows MS that their subscription model won't fly. I'm so much into android any more it doesn't matter to me. My old, slow, struggling laptop has Win 7 but I barely use it anymore. I'm sure not going to upgrade to Windows 10. I just hope Microsoft gets the message that they don't rule the home or business roost any more. We have (safer) options

We have (safer) options Win 10, when done before the free upgrade expires is supposed to stay free for the life of the device its installed on. Its the new OEM machines and retail licenses that is unclear as to any future fees. Not to get into the weeds too much, but large businesses running Windows Enterprise and under the Software Assurance Program are already covered until a hardware change is an issue and not by the cost of an upgrade. Also, most old slow Windows 7 machines I see are just in need of a clean install to be like new again.
