I would try that on the piers for sure A balloon would do similar, just not as fast. On the pier, outgoing of course. Thread your line through a couple lifesaver candies, and then the balloon around it also.. set it to drift. When the candy dissolves about 10 minutes you could be way out there.. Only problem with a super long cast is dragging your fish and gear back to , and then across the rock piles.. . Ill stick to a normal drift, most fish are using the pier for there structure safety.. But hell it would draw a crowd and be serious fun.

I like it as the Balloon takes Your Bait out & all at once You see Your Balloon moving in another Direction. Just hold on & Reel Like Hell ! That is how I caught My First Kingfish out at the SS Pier on the Far End. You do cover a lot of Ground with a Balloon plus You also know where Your Bait is at all times.

I need to learn how to do the ballons Just Tie a Balloon on to Your Line(not leader) just like You would hook a Bobber onto Your Line. The Balloon is just a Big Bobber.

But hell it would draw a crowd and be serious fun. Peppermint life savers dissolve faster than the hard candy ones. The hard candy takes almost 20 minutes to dissolve.
