Any thoughts on a trip out to Skyway this weekend?
I was thinking about getting there 4 or 5am Saturday. The tide should be turning out about 5 or 6am and by time sun comes up it should be changed an hour or so.
It's a 2 hour trip for me so I can't go as often as I'd like. I figure it'll end up crowding in the early evenings but do you gurus think it'll be worth it? I don't mind a lot of people but if it's holiday weekend beer guzzling, loud music yahoos, I'd rather not.
Which leads me to a question on etiquette. Many times I see advice to walk the pier casting if you aren't getting hits. Is there a way to do this without disrupting others or violating their space?

I generally avoid going out fishing during holiday periods due to crowding.
Given that we have very warm water, some fish species will not be real active. Check mackerelman's temperature chart vs fish. I would fish more at night or very early am.
Regarding moving around and casting near others...treat others as you want to be treated. I would give others at least 15 feet of space if possible. Good luck this weekend!

Skyway is nothing like Sebastian though. I guess it's an awesome spot but them guys are too hardcore. They'll throw a line over your head. Been there once but that was enough. Too much tension when fistfights are about to break out. At Skyway people are more relaxed. It's a nice, relaxing vibe. Wish I lived closer. A 15 ft space sounds reasonable. I'm just a bit too shy and fear offending others so I tend to stay in one spot. Guess I'll have to get over that. D

D Same thing with me... when in doubt just ask the person if they mind you fishing close to them. Some are jerks but most are nice.
