Hey gang, Skyjay here to tell you all about a new bait that is taking the fishing world by storm. I'm talking about the Nekidball Jig. Available in several colors and sizes for fishing from shoreline to blue water. Originally designed as a Pompano Jig this bait is deadly on every fish that swims our waters. Especially effective on Hogfish, and Snapper I've personally been amazed at just how well this wierd yet phenomonal bait fills the cooler time and time again. With spring on the way and the Pompano, and Spanish Mackeral run about to hit full gear, I would strongly advise you guys to add a few to your arsenal. It's a sure fire guarantee go to bait, and you wont be disapointed ! The only artificial Ive ever seen that outfishes live bait. Get yourself some Nekidball Jigz. You'll be glad you did.

I would basically stick to your confidence color you presently use with docs jigs. it 's your call on the weight. whatever you feel you need for the current you are fishin. google nekidball jigz and go to their site to see the multitude of sizes, styles, and colors. Ive done really well on a two ounce hot pink tipped with a small piece of fresh not frozen shrimp offshore for Hogfish, Snapper, Grouper and Porgies. My past experience at the pier would dictate a 3/4 to 1 ounce in hot pink or yellow for the Pomps. tipping the jig with fresh not frozen shrimp will increase your success. if no shrimp is available, try pro cure bait scent in crab or shrimp flavor. for the macks as you know from your experience with Docs Jigs just adjust your retrieve to more erratic speedy motion. With the Nekidball you'll expeience less cuttoffs from the Macks due to the unique chain leader between the jighead and teaser/ hook. Good luck! Tight lines and full coolers to everyone!

No problem. Visit their site, to see all the colors, sizes, styles and variations. You can even order on line! Every time I go to a baitshop the selection has been somewhat limited, as they're selling like hot cakes everywhere! I did see a nice selection at Southeastern Tackle liquidators, and Hubbards at Johns pass has a nice selection also. Oniels Marina carries them but sells out as soon as a fresh shipment arrives. Be sure and tell your local tackle dealers if they arent selling them, theyre missing out on a golden opourtunity!

Spring has sprung! Bait is back. Surface temp 71.4 at St Pete Buoy. Big Schools of Spanish showing up from Naples to Englewood. Matter of days now. Scout Kings showing up offshore here and there. One guy got a smoker on the 44 hour Hubbards overnighter at the A J wreck. About a 30 pounder. My guess on Kings is end of next week, maybe sooner. Offshore Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack bite is on fire. Hogfish jumping in boats.

Jay, How do you work the jigs offshore? Is it a quick retrieve like a butterfly jig, or do you bounce it off the bottom? Also I know for fish like AJs I know the bigger the butterfly jig the bigger the fish is the same true for the nekidball. What colors and sizes do you recommend offshore?

For Hogfish the jig must remain directly on the bottom. I cast out away from the boat, alow it to sink to the bottom and work it slowly back just giving it a slight bump from time to time. The idea is to create small puffs of sand which always gets a Hogs atention because they feed mainly on the bottom on crabs etc. Once they see it, they eat it. period. Youll feel a definate bump. And then, just start reeling. For Snapper abd Grouper same thing, only you can speed it up a little for agressive Mangos. Dont be surprised to catch a plethora of Porgies, Grunts, Yellowtails, and other Reef fish also. Scamp Grouper, everyones favorite cant resist having a taste either. A small piece of Shrimp fresh not frozen will help get em fired up. As far as Pelagics (Jax, Max, etc. a herky jerky motion is the way to go. And yes you can fish it just like a verticle jig up in the water collumn also. Good luck gang and - F I S H O N ! ! !

Kings are back guys! New moon currents may or may not affect the bite at the pier this week, but my guess is as time goes on, and that bait starts stacking up, we're in for a very special spring run here.
