Last time I was at the NSP, the whole pier was a garbage dump. Vowed I wouldn't go back. As a fisherman, you can imagine how many times I have lied to myself (but never to others). Fishermen don't lie, right? So my buddy and I went this morning about 4 a.m. Parked as close to the booth as we could and walked back past it. Skidded a crankbait along the edges for awhile, one roll at it in 20 minutes. My buddy wore his arms out w/ a gold spoon. Put a pc. of cut bait under a cork and got hit by a nice 23" red. Put the bait back out and less than 2 minutes later got his big sister, 29" red, she went back. Thinking we're on to something, we put a 2nd rod out and by 9:30 we have 2 slot reds, 4 mangos between 11" and 14", 3 seabass at 11"-12" and a 19" speck. Jumped a very nice snook too rite a day break. He looked to be about 30". Numerous throwbacks as well. Frozen 1 yr. old cut ladyfish got them all. Found the ladyfish at the bottom of my freezer, luckily vac. sealed so it was still good. Just filleted all and showered. Nap time and then making hush puppies and tartar sauce. Going to eat good tonite, Momma's happy so the world is good.
