Don't you have to have a boat or be willing to walk a long way on the beach to get to the North tip of Honeymoon Island?

Yes. LOng walk to the north end of honey moon. However, No need to walk that far.
Dog beach area west side is good. Fast moving current moves live bait thur the pass. Large threadfin, whitebait and pin fish all great baits there. Freeling or under a cork. Catch red, snook trout. If you have a bluecrab this time of year tarpon may hit.
If you use shrimp I like to fish the bottom. Whiting, Pomps and sometimes macks.
Dog beach great area for Artificials. Helps you locate teh fish then throw live bait.
You can also go about 75 to 159 yards north of the last buliding on the right. Trcik here is with live shrimp Red, Snook and whitening less that tens yards fromt eh shore. Do not cast straight out. Cast on a 45 degree angle and walk up 75 yards and turn and walk back. Always cast in front of you.
If you live to wade and stay cool in the water bring some aqua socks or other rubber soles shoes because there are rocks out there. Depending on Tide walk straight out. You will think the water is getting high but keep going. You will walk up the west side of the swash channel. In low tide turn and fish back to shore casting as far to shore as you can. Fish ( red, Snook and whitening all possible) will be close early in the AM. As the water starts to heat turn and cast towrds the second swash channel. Yes you will be close to 100 -130 yards offshore. Tons of trout in this five to seven foot swash channel, Macks and jacks too. Might hit some pomps or tarpon too. I suugest though if you catch something worth keeping of eating you do not tie to a stringer and hook to your belt of bait bucket. This time of year blacktips and sometimes bull sharks are around and you will have some excitement on your hands.
Hey. Good luck and let me know how you make out. ( sorry for the typos little tired. Went to NC this morning for some NC coastal fishing over the next two weeks)

Thanks Montyfl...great info. Confused on the "You can also go about 75 to 159 yards north of the last buliding on the right". Is the building to the right of Dog Beach?

along the beach there are three yellow buildings. The first one near Dog beach is where most of the people park.
The next one has the honeymoon cafe.
The final one is the third on on the right. park here and walk norht for 75 to 150 yards.
Hope this helps
