I was just curious as to how many of us actually make rigs, I have been taught to make all my own stuff. I have also learned more from this forum as well as the original forum too. The only rig I have bought is a king fish rig.

Allways made my own, even the sabaki's. Partly because I'm an OCB(old cheep basturd) and the fact that I can make them better and to my on dementions than can be bought.
BCC, you fished the river up there? There are fish in that body of water that will have ya water ski'n right off the bank. Eatable cats as big as VW's, You think a jewfish/grouper tugg's on your pole hook, one of them and hang the F**K on. Just SW of you in Belzona, MS is the world's provider of farm raised catfish. The land that use to provide us with cotton has been transformed into a huge aquaculture farm. Don't be shy, talk to some of the locals, they can put you in the right spot. Your not far down river from where the world record cat was caught.

Ya i know about the river but i have tried for 10 yrs now and havent got anybody to let me know where to fish. My dau cought a 17 lb cat at a pay pond here. If i still had the pic i would post it. I use to dream about using my penn 12/0 and fishing for those goliath catfish but after yreas of sitting the reel dosent seem to work right anymore.

You save alot of money in the long run making your own and if they fail you can only blame yourself. I do buy sabiki's though.....it's alot easier to spend a buck then take the time to make one. Thank God for leader sleeves. ;D

BCC, since I'm from there I'll give ya a hand with the Big Cats. If you take Goodman road(302) west to US-61, then north for about 1 1/2 miles you'll come to Levee Rd. on the left, take it west for about 4 miles, you'll see a piece of land that comes from the north, that is where the corps of engineers blocked the old channel of the MS river when they straightened it out. These Ox Bow's are deep and full of big ass fishes.
Get back to US-61 and go north for another 1/2 mile and you'll be in Lake View, turn west and you can follow that road across another fill by the corps of engineers, deep water on both sides. There used to be a spillway on the west end of the ox bow lake, it spills out into the MS river.
Now all ya gotta do is make ya up some blood bait, oil that old Penn up and get ready to hang on.

WOW thanks for that great info i am going to print out those directions and with any luck i will be fishing there this weekend. As for the 12/0 there is no line on it but i have feeling i might have a good reason to get it working again and fill it with line. Mabey i actually start catching fish again i wont seem like such a cook to yall and i can start talking normal.
