got a new reel that holds 10/380 12/340 and 15/240. so with a little bit of mono backing, will 300yds of 30 or 40 pp fill her up? also, will hi-vis get less bites on bigger fish like snook, tarpon? thanks

If you put on about 80 yds of 10 lb. backing, then 300yds. 40 lb PP will fill it up. Always a little tough to figure out and thats why some guys just have it spooled by the yd. for them, but a lot cheaper if you can figure it out yourself. Here's the conversion chart. www.powerpro.com/using/specs.asp

It might be, depends on the brand. Check the mono diameter. Thats why they say approximate

It makes no difference if your using flouro leader. Don't believe any of the hype. Use any color. The Hi-Vis yellow is very useful for the pier. Birds see it better and you can follow your line easier when freelining.

i use a berkley big game bright green 30lb mono, Cajun red mono 15lb mono and i also use the standard 60lb power pro that i switch with on 2 of my rods. to me i have better luck with the mono at the pier because when i get wrapped up in the pilings or if something goes under the pier the power pro just shreds as to where the mono holds up better to abrasion.

30 to 40 Hi-viz Yellow is my choice on my medium spinners, 100 lb on my Grouper rod, also hi-viz yellow. Especially when fishing at night and free lining the rocks it stands out good.
