i was at both piers from 1am till 10am, SSP was first and they had no greenies just shrimp so for the next hour we sabiki'ed the whole pier till we got to the end and then a little bit of action. then we got a few larger greenies and a few pins. as i had the rig in the water for the next volley of bait fish i saw something moving right below in the shadows and then it came into to the light a big fat beautiful tarpon. I immediately grabbed my biggest pole and free lined a pin at it. after 15 minutes and this poon swimming past it we decided to head to the NSP. gave my son the rod to hold while i put a few things back in the truck then WHAM!! it hit and my son freaked, i ran over to him to help him and he looked at me as he was trying to keep from loosing the rod. he asked me to take it over. it was a short-lived fight. i let off the drag and he started out towards the NSP with a few jumps in the air, then he came about darted under the pier and cut me off!!! then we went to the NSP were we caught more bait but nothing more than a 3" greenie, sunrise was no action. the tide was moving in really strong. however the pelicans were not even flying around either. so at 9:45 we left, got home and went to bed. i hope you all had a better day than our night. before i forget there was a mango bite on the gulf side between the spans and also i saw somebody hook up on a Goliath Grouper (so was claimed) in the same area under the bay side span behind the bait shop as well gonna have to try dusk fishing instead of dawn fishing.
