Grabbing some lures and hooks and heading to the SSP, prob get there around 11:30 am or noon. I'll post a report later on. If you go, look for the white cobalt and the only guy who wears Costa Del Mars (haha)

Got to the skyway around noon and had a nice outgoing tide. Pinfish were abundant near the baitshop and I was pulling up 3-4 on every sabiki cast. Decided to freeline some of the pins out and kept getting chunks taken out of the pinfish towards their mouth and eyes (any idea what kind of fish would do that?). My second pinfish floated out and I reeled back and had a GAG GROUPER buried in the rocks! First time I ever caught one at the skyway. Measured 22 inches on the dot and was a fun fight. Besides that, the action was completely dead. The biggest fish I noticed caught was a large pinfish (haha) from a family. Also, when filleting grouper, is it necessary to fillet the skin before you freeze it? img339.imageshack.us/i/21976717912751476601413.jpg/

a fat one too, sweet. Dont know about skinning before hand, some fish have a weird way the skin reacts with their meat, but I never heard this about grouper.

Nice one on the Gag! Was out from 9pm till 1AM, not too much action, tide was coming in hard and fast, and the wind kicked up around 10pm pretty hard...
Tossed a light into the water, and it seemed to have attracted more people than fish.......no people fishing within 50' of me, i throw my light in, and suddenly there are several 10' from me....to the point i had to tell some they were crowding me.
action was light....nothing major lots of bait, wife hooked up a 14" snapper, I got a 13" flounder.
wife hooked up some small jacks and lady fish....as we left saw some mackerel being pulled up.

Was at the SSP also. Caught macks and short gags around the noon tide change. Larger pins were hard to find, but plenty of threadfins around. Got a huge hit on a mack head, but rocked, so no luck. Saw a friend land a 26" keeper on the evening tide change.
On another note..the guy in the baitshop now says the east span work will start in June.

Adding to this report, I got out to the SSP around 3 p.m., When we first got there I sabikid and threw out a live greenback...and saw a decent shadow in the water hit it, take drag but not hook up, maybe a tarpon? Couldn't say. Left around 8 p.m. but all told 5 short grouper, one 20 incher..... a nice 20 inch sea trout and a 12 inch mangrove snapper....plenty of bites, some breakoffs, some rocks. One was a violent hit and run....wtf!?
Also went out this morning, around 9 a.m., nothing to speak of, a shortie on the incoming. Left at 1 p.m. Not too much around me either, oh the guy next to me did catch a pretty nice mack.
Anyway great to be out there and getting bites finally!
