i have sen many many people on tv doing it both ways, i personally reel with my left hand with the reel facing the ground.

it all depends on what reel were reelin in at the time spinner i use left hand with reel facing ground and conventional i ust right hand and UP

On a spinning rod I reel with my right hand with real facing down, on conventional rod I reel with my right hand and reel facing up

if you are using a spinner and the reel is facing up, you are a JIBRONEE. no way around it. next time take a look at the people who are reeling in that way. that will explain it all to you.

My spinning reels can be set up as either left or right handed. Definitely with reel facing the ground. Conventional, right handed , up. Gotta agree and laugh at the JIBRONEE folks who have a spinner reel up.

i just shake my head at those times. i asked someone once why they did that and thier reply was it was because they were left handed... i asked them to let me see the rod and i switched the handle around for them and they were so amazed at that. LMAO\

Pascosal, you hit the nail on the head. These people are usually left handed inexperienced fishermen who don't know the handle can be switched. I have done the same thing with the same result. Help out these newbies, they need it.

with out a doubt, i remember when i had no clue what i was doing, there was this guy who taught me a few of the basics when i was a kid at the bayshore marina in new york. it left such an impact on me. so i am willing to share any time i am asked.
