Good example of a recreational bad guy, but the commercials guys are not as obvious.

If things keep going the way they are it will become a non-issue.
Either the price of fuel, will shut it down, or all the fish will be gone, like other locations worldwide.
Sad, but true I'm afraid.

Pictures like this just make me sick. When i use to work at Big Pier 60 in clearwater beach i called he Florida Marine Patrol a few times for fish violiations and not once did they ever show up. The worst trouble i had were from some of the old timers who thought theywere above the law and would keep bucket fulls of under size redfish or mackeral. They knew the law wouldent show so when i warned them they dident care. Of all the years of me fishing in the pinellas county area i have only seen the Marine patrol one time checking people for illegal fish. I was fishing Johns pass and nobody was catching anything. He check my buckets that were empty.

diggin my son and i almost always catch and release everything we catch. there hasnt been a fish we didnt keep yet. we are all about the sport of fishing and the simple fun of it. these pictures really anger me to no end. IMO i believe it is simply not knowing any better is the worst. the last time i was there on the NSP there was a family there and they caught a small gag and they didnt know what they had caught. once i explained to them what it was and how big it had to be to keep they were happy i told them that because they were gonna use it for cut bait.

If people only kept legal sized fish and only kept what they would use there wouldnt be hardly any issues. maybe in my teenage years and not really knowing the limitations on certain fish i may have kept an undersized or outta season fish but have since grown to really love and respect the sport and done lots of homework people that waste our fishery like shown in the pics above i just dont have any respect for...even if keepin an out of season or shorty dont over do it leave some for the next angler or hell how bout your kids and grandkids... no shorties or outta seasons for this angler anymore i know better seen to many people get busted out at sand key

FWC used to sit across the channle lookin at the opposite side with a night vision monocular watching the piers waiting for someone to catch a decent fish and if the individual was HAULING AZZ to the cooler or truck the FWC would be on'em like white on rice pretty funny... lots of snook and reds out there trout and even a tarpon or two and man many many tickets and lots of jail birds comming from outta there..when i fish clw beach area anymore i usually catch and release its a spontainious action grab rod and small arty box out of the closet and head out no drinks or cooler nothin so i just release what i catch...

You don't know me or anything about me. Just a little background information for you. I'm originally from North Carolina with a very long history in the commercial fishing industry. I was good enough that I was hired by the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges to teach Commercial and Sports Fisheries and Net making. I have seen first hand what commercial fishing does to the environment. I was a part of the destruction and I'm not proud of it. I know what longlining, shrimp trawls, gill nets, trammel nets, and all the other devices do to damage the environment. After realizing how much we the commercial fishermen were doing to harm the environment I gave it up and am glad I did. So you or no one else can tell me that the commercial fishermen are not the problem. If you are so concerned about the problems with fishing of any type get in touch with a commercial shrimper and convince them to let you go out and work for a day with them and see first hand the hundreds of pounds of DEAD by-catch they toss over the side. And since shrimp love grass see how much grass they destroy. Then maybe you can tell everyone where the problems are. There are idiots on both sides of the fence when it comes to the waste of fish and marine life. But, that will never change where the real problem lies. As far as your camera goes, you must have a really OLD, OLD one. Mine is 8 years old and when I change batteries the memory stays intact. And it doesn't matter which group of batteries it is. Last, as far as someone keeping quiet, I don't think that is the answer. I think everyone has an opinion and should present it. That is what this board is all about. If you want to fight for the sport that we all love then gather the information on all aspects of commercial and recreational fishing and go for it. Just don't try and say that the problem is the recreational fishermen based upon one incident. Like I said before, there are idiots on both sides of the fence. Now, I'll be quiet, for awhile. Jimmy

Lets not turn this into an argument about what date the pics were taken. Time and date stamps on digital cameras dont really prove anything. Opinions differ, and everyone is allowed to post theirs, as long as it stays civil.
Im not saying anyone has crossed the line yet. Lets please keep it that way.
Thanks.

Xfactor i believe your right on the money. No i have never been in the commercial industry but i have had family members who were and all have pretty much the thought on it as you do. Look at the shark finners they dont care about the rest of the shark they just want the fins and kill thousands ot 10,s of thousands a year just to sell the fins.
